A MAGIC VILLAGE
Orés is located 104 kilometres away from Zaragoza, on top of a hill by the valleys of the Arba de Biel River and the Agonías River. Its name comes from Aurus, linked to the ancient name of its river.
Its urban area is very well kept, highlighting its stone buildings, and its church, dedicated to San Juan Bautista.
Outside the urban area, there are two chapels: the Virgin of the Pardina and Yerzol, a pilgrimage destination in May, where there is a tradition of sharing blessed bread followed by a local cake tasting accompanied by wine.
But Orés is especially very famous for its magic festival, which has been taking place for a decade in June. It brings together the best illusionists, transforming Orés, for one day, into a great outdoor magic stage, as artists perform in the streets and squares of the town. During that celebration, the population of this 100 inhabitant village is magically multiplied by 10.
